Vaser stands for Vibration Amplification of Sound Energy at Resonance and is considered the latest generation of ultrasound-assisted vaser liposuction surgery that leads to better results and recovery.

Diluted local anaesthesia is placed in the treatment areas. Vaser probes are then inserted into the fatty tissue and used to gently liquify the cells before fat removal. The vibration from the probe weakens the bonds between the fat cells leading to an emulsified solution. Once the emulsification is in process, a small hollow tube/cannula is used to remove the liquid and the fat cells.

We advocate early mobilisation and so that means walking and cardiovascular activity as soon as you can. The more you do within reason gets you back into your normal routines quicker. You will need to wear a compression garments for 1- 3 weeks after Vaser 4D lipo procedure and it actually helps to keep you comfortable so that you can be more mobile.

Normally we recommend you wear the supplied primary compression garment for 24 hours/day during the first 3 weeks, and then downgrade to shapewear/ underarmour/ spanx/ sports vest for at least 8hrs a day for a further 3 weeks.

Vaser 4D Liposuction uses ultrasound technology that is a selective treatment for fat removal. The transmitted ultrasound targets unwanted fat whilst preserving nerves and blood vessels. The liquidised fat is then suctioned away, which is the physical removal of fat from treatment areas. The first and second generation UAL cannulas were thick and were designed to deliver high energy thus promoting an increase in complications e.g. skin burns, seromas etc.

Vaser is a form of modern ultrasound assistance that is established technology. It is otherwise known as 3rd generation Ultrasound technology. The tube is narrow and delivers less energy thus being safer.

We usually advise that the procedure will take anywhere between 90 minutes to 3.5 hours. After the procedure, you would need to stay with us for monitoring until we feel you are safe to go home, usually around 30-60 minutes. We advise that you do not operate heavy machinery or drive a car for at least 24-48 hours after the procedure.

We usually advice that patients take a 3-7 days (average is 4 days) off work and then return back to light duties. Those who have any of the body sculpting techniques may require up to 5-7 days. Soreness will last 1-2 weeks but it should not be so severe that you cannot back to some form of activity early on. The more you are active the less stiffness you will have.

Under a local anaesthetic the most uncomfortable part is the infusion of the LA. Your doctor will inject entry area, and then inject the entry points with an anaesthetic and then using a small tube further anaesthesia is infused into the fatty layers to be treated. It may sting for a short while but then when the anaesthesia takes effect most patients describe the following sensation as a ‘dullness’ or ‘heaviness’. During the procedure you may feel the occasional discomfort or a tugging.

In general you need to be healthy, undergo regular exercise, have healthy eating habits and you should not exceed more than 25% of your ideal weight. You should not be taking any anticoagulants (blood thinning agents), Vitamin E supplements or immunosuppressed. You should not be taking steroids or anti-inflammatory medications for more than a few days. Any age can be treated and people aged 18 – 75 have benefited from Vaser 4D Lipo. We do require that you are reasonably healthy and age is not a real restriction. Good results depend more on your level of physical activity, health, nutrition and skin tone than age.

You may see some visible change the next day after the procedure but then you will begin to swell as the inflammation takes over. We usually advice that the average patient will begin to see pleasing results 6-8 weeks later, some patients take a little longer and some a little less time. After 8 weeks the majority of patients will continue to notice significant changes for up to 12 weeks from the procedure. Small or minor changes may occur up to 12 months from the procedure. Those undergoing a repeated vaser liposuction are like to take longer to settle down due increased trauma and fibrosis.

Yes. Your body will not make any more new fat cells to replace the ones removed during the procedure. However, you still need to have a healthy diet and maintain regular exercise as excess calories may result in the swelling of the remaining fat cells.

No. We require our clients to consider all the alternatives and risks before proceeding. A second consultation is always advised as you may think of other questions you may want to ask the doctor. When both you and your doctor are happy to proceed following your consultation/s and 2 weeks have passed, your Vaser 4D Lipo procedure may be performed in the next available slot.

You are most likely to be left with a very small scar about 4-6mm in length for each incision point. For most people, this scar completely fades or becomes fairly invisible with time, although this depends on each individual client’s reaction to scarring.
