Advantages of Dermal Fillers for Neck

Dermal fillers offer a gentle and safe anti-ageing treatment for skin rejuvenation without surgery. They are also effective in restoring loss of volume to the neck. As part of a course they achieve a fresher and natural appearance by reducing fine and deep lines. Three of the safest and most effective products, both of which are supported by significant clinical studies are hyaluronic acid dermal fillers such as Juvederm Hydrate, Restylane and Teosyal RHA 1. They consist of a soft colourless injectable stabilised hyaluronic acid a naturally occurring substance in the skin that helps to add volume and hydration. As the levels of hyaluronic acid diminish with age, moisture is lost in our skin. These dermal fillers revitalise the skin, instantly diminishing the appearance of lines and wrinkles.

How are Dermal Fillers performed?

The area to be treated is identified and marked. The skin is cleaned with a skin preparation.
Often a vibrating device is used to distract from any discomfort. Sometimes we even use a numbing cream 30-45 minutes before the treatment or ice to numb the area. Most of the fillers contain local anaesthetic that create a mild numbing effect. The filler is then injected into the skin using an ultra fine needle to minimise discomfort.

Dermal Filler Aftercare

We will usually massage the product before you leave and check to see evenness. You may massage it yourself. To reduce the swelling you can use some ice wrapped in a damp cloth. Arnica cream can help reduce any swelling or bruising that you may have.

You can carry on with your normal daily activities as any redness can be covered with make-up. It is advisable, however, not to expose the treated area to strong sunlight for two to three days post treatment and to leave the area alone to settle for 48 hours. Swimming pools are best avoided for a week.

It can be but to get the best results it is best to repeat the treatment 4-5 times with a session every 2-4 weeks and then maintain it once every 6 months.

Hyaluronic acid is made from non-animal products and is totally natural. It has been used for many years without any serious long-term side effects.

Juvederm, Restylane skin booster and Redensity 1 Teosyal dermal fillers now contain a local anaesthetic for a more comfortable experience.

The technique on the neck relies on small microdeposits of filler under the skin that leave small raised areas on the neck for a day or two. Sometimes you may also have some mild redness, swelling or bruising following dermal fillers but this usually subsides within a couple of days, and can be covered with make-up.

Dermal fillers do not have an upper or lower age limit, however we do not advise nor perform the treatment for for individuals under 18 years of age.

Followup treatments are usually after 6 months.

Sculptra is an injectable that subtly and gradually over 8 weeks provides a more youthful-looking appearance. Sculptra is made of Poly-L-Lactic acid and gently helps stimulate your own natural collagen production. This helps restore and increase skin volume that is being lost to ageing. Sculptra is for healthy individuals with normal immunity as a one-time treatment regimen of up to four injection sessions that are scheduled about three weeks apart.

Do not use if you are pregnant, breast feeding or have a sensitivity to hyaluronic acid dermal fillers.

I can’t recommend EA clinic enough. I have had several procedures there now (vaser liposuction, mole removal and peels) and between Gill and Dr Anthony I have been so well looked after. They are consistently professional, passionate and clear in the options they provide you. Whether it is consultation, procedure or aftercare Dr Anthony always has so much time to make you feel at ease and fully informed. Both Gill and Dr Anthony are also friendly which is so lovely and welcoming as a patient. Overall I feel so much happier and confident since seeing the team at EA Clinic.
